Mobile Apps to Maximize the Fall Season

Fall is here, as evidenced by masses of people chugging on pumpkin spice lattes as they watch the leaves start to turn to vibrant shades of yellow, orange and red. Have you been wondering how to take advantage of everything fall has to offer? We have a few app suggestions that will let you find the perfect fall foliage, color coordinate those leaves to interior decorating ideas, and eat more healthy options, especially as we transition into the holiday season.

Maximize Viewing Fall Colors

This app might apply only for people who live along the East Coast, but if you have already planned a trip up to New Hampshire, now is time to download their Fall Foliage App. Sponsored by the state government, this free iOS and Andriod app gives statewide reports of when leaves in peak. Right now the northern part of the state is experiencing peak while the southern part of the state will reach peak within the next few eeks.

One added bonus is that it also lets you upload your own photos for others to see, and can hook you up with itineraries, hotels, and other area attractions if that's what you're looking for.

Color Coordinate Fall to Your Interiors

If you've ever collected fallen leaves from your backyard or on a hike, you've probably gotten inspired to decorate your living room, kitchen or bedroom with some of the rich tones from these leaves. That's where the Palette app can come in to help. The basic, free version lets your photograph objects and then uses the colors to create a palette of complimentary colors. A pro version for $3.99 lets you create an unlimited number of palettes with up to 25 different colors per palettes.

From these palettes, you can figure out if you want to paint your walls, add the right color accent wall, or create a set of related fall crafts to place around your home.

Make Grocery Shopping Healthy

Fall is the perfect season to eat well, as winter squash, pumpkin, and other dark greens are in season. In order to help you build healthy meals around this in-season produce, you'll want to try out Fooducate. It allows you to directly scan barcodes on items and then offers detailed information on serving size, nutrients, and whether or not it contains a lot of processed ingredients. It offers a simple rating system based on these priorities.

It could also become increasingly useful as we move into the holiday season. If you're made it your goal to eat healthier between Thanksgiving and New Year's, this app could be the perfect tool to keep you on track.
