3D printing has exploded in popularity over the past year, but until now it hasn't made it to one particular destination: outer space. Just this week NASA launched the first 3D printer into space with hopes that it can be tested on the International Space Station. If successful, these tests could pave the way for a permanent 3D printer in space that would allow crew members to produce new parts on demand. We wanted to explore a little bit why NASA wanted to launch this program and what the challenges have been along the way.

It seems like there are new developments every day when it comes to printing and printer design! Today we wanted to highlight two new innovations in the printing world. The first, courtesy of Samsung, brings office printers into the 21st century with large, colorful touchscreens and mobile-centric interfaces. The second, courtesy of HP, revolves around securing printers, which have become hotbeds for hackers, especially in business environments. A Mini Robotic Printer

As you can tell from our last blog post, 3D printers are all the rage right now! But what about other kinds of printers? Surely the only developments aren't happening with 3D printing. Enter the Mini Mobile Robotic Printer. Measuring only 3.9 by 4.5 inches, this printer allows you to print on-the-go, without the usual limitations of desktop printing. Better yet: it's just 11,000 dollars away from its 400,000 dollar goal on Kickstarter, meaning the printers will ship by January 2015.
